We tried out YD Tofu House on the way back from Tahoe to the Bay Area. For a casual quick dinner, it is a bit pricey with soups and rice dishes starting close to $20. We got a variety of soondubu, galbi and I got the clam kalguksu. The kalguku was pretty good with a nice amount of clam. I do wish the broth had more seafood flavor but the noodles were nice and chewy and it was a great comforting dish. They also gave me a spicy scallion sauce on the side which really helped the flavor of the broth once I added it in. I also tried the galbi which was tender and a large enough portion to share between 2 people. The best part of the meal was the banchan which we were able to refill as much as we wanted. I loved that there was a variety of vegetables, japchae, different kimchis, braised sweet potato and a few others. Service was friendly and quick. it seems like a lot customers get the larger portion stews and braises to share. We'll definitely try one of those if we come back.
Talk about nice hidden gem around Elk Grove area. The perfect way start my race weekend in Sacramento. YD Tofu House regular spot for my cousins. I was excited cause when comes to food they always know best spots in Sac. It not big inside, in small shopping mall, and not most appealing outside overall look. Soon open door smell bulgogi and Kalbi action. So legit. I let my cousins order since regulars. We shared it all family style. Bulgogi, Kalbi, Kim chee fried rice, Kim chee tofu soup, and couple more dishes. All really good. The bulgogi and Kalbi could eat meat AYCE style be good. Ban Chan was amazing. Not only did they have lot of different ones but all good. Service was five stars for sure.
YD Tofu House is always good vibes. The service can be a little slow when they are busy but as soon as the order is placed the food does come out quickly (that's a plus especially if you're waiting for a while to order). The food from the side dishes to the entrees will definitely fill you up. The soju is flavored and they do have other Korean alcohol too. The price definitely went up on all their items so it can be pricey. The place is well kept in the dining area but the bathroom sometimes can be a little unkempt.
First time here. I came here with my family on a Tuesday around 5:30 pm right before the dinner rush and was seated immediately. Plenty of space available and as the evening went on more people trickled in. The service here is great and fast. All the servers were very attentive and friendly however, I felt rushed by all the servers to order right away. We ordered the Sukuh Soon Du Bu (Tofu soup with beef and seafood), Haemool Pajun (Seafood pancake), Dolsot Bibimbop, and the Hot Stone Beef Bulgolgi. Our order came with miso soup and tons of banchan (sides). The food here was delicious. All the ingredients tasted fresh and made to order. Our favorites were the Hot Stone Beef Bulgogi, Bibimbop, and the seafood package. We ordered the soon du bu as medium spicy but didn't feel any heat at all. The gochujang sauce (spicy sauce in the red bottle) was sooooo good and ended up using it all over the bibimbop. One thing I noticed was that they skimped out on the beef in the soon du bu and the dolsot bibimbop and all the beef ended up in the hot stone beef bulgogi. Overall very solid Korean food. I would come back and would recommend it to others. Parking is a bit limited but we came early enough to find parking easily.
On Freeport and Franklin, and the parking is a tad weird. There's just a single row of parking, and you're to come in from the Fruitridge entrance, not Freeport. There's parking in the back, but with how many businesses there are in that plaza, it can be tough to get parking. With all that said, I enjoyed the place. I read reviews about the staff, but when we were there, they were all great. I realize this is extremely dependent on when you're there and more, but they were great. We were a large group and were served great. I got the bulgogi plate, and it arrived on a sizzling plate. It smelled great when put in front of me. It was solid good bulgogi. Perhaps the star of the show were the banchan. They were great and the staff constantly refilled it. The biggest hits among my group were the japchae and kimchi. There was an endless stream coming from the kitchen. It was a good overall experience and I wouldn't hesitate returning.
This place is located in a mini plaza, with limited parking in front. There's a lot of seats inside. Service was good but a bit slow. Food was delicious! We got some bulgogi, and a pancake to share. I love the side dishes, there were a good variety and they were delicious! Overall, I would definitely return if in the area and craving korean!
I love Korean food and the fact that this place is so close to my house. I have dined in and done take out from this location. Every dish I have ordered has been great and if you dine in, they give small plates of fermented foods ranging from kimchi to baby crabs and my favorite, japchae. Pros: huge portions of food and full of flavor. I usually take food home since the portions are so large. Also they charge you for each takeout box. My favorite is the bibimbap. If you like spicy, they definitely turn the heat up. Cons: parking can be hard to find one. They are busy. They get pretty busy through most of the day.
